My husband, Russ, and I have been fortunate to work at jobs that offered health insurance.

But not everybody is so fortunate, and those are the people we need to help.

Our parents and grandparents have worked their entire lives for the chance to live out their golden years in comfort.

Now they are watching their dollars disappear due to the rising cost of health care.

I know a lot of people in the 55th District whose payments for health insurance cost more than their house payment.

Minimal raises in Social Security are being gobbled up by out of control prices for prescription drugs and health care premiums

It is a tragedy that some of our friends and family members are so desperate they have to resort to driving to Canada just to find affordable medicine.

There are many manufacturers who remain loyal to Michigan but who have been forced to lay off workers due to the rising cost of health care.

There cannot be true economic recovery in our state until prescription drug costs are reduced.

I support legislation that would provide for prescription drug rebates to the poorest of our seniors and all the citizens of Michigan.

I support this effort and I will support legislation that brings health care relief to the people and businesses in the 55th District.

I will be your strong voice in Lansing so that we can find a solution to this problem.
